Sometimes we may feel despondent that our material conditioning is an impediment to our devotional service. Kaliya’s prayer to Lord Krishna gives us inspiration to continue despite whatever our material conditioning might be.

Envy, lust, pride, false ego, etc. feel so much a part of myself and such hindrance to the path of devotional service. Just as Kaliya felt that being envious and enraged is part of who he was. But Krishna is the Supreme and only with His mercy, these can be overcome even though they seem practically inseparable from my very nature.
